Buddha Bark's Celebrity and Doggie Lounge at Golden Globes
The Buddha Bark Celebrity and Canine Style Lounge made its debut this weekend before the Golden Globes with a gifting suite of pampering and treats for both two-legged and four-legged creatures.
This new event series, created by canine wellness expert Madison Svensson, was an oasis in the middle of the city. Held at the Chaz Dean Studio, the Asian-garden inspired compound is a retreat hidden on a nondescript block of Fountain Avenue. Celebs, trendsetters, members of the Third Estate and their dogs were invited to prep and primp pre-Globes.
LAist brought two doggies--Sadie and Riley--to test drive the treats and treatments at Buddha Bark. They received canine massages by Pam at Buddha Dog (which Sadie enjoyed more than Riley); mobile grooming by The Wizard of Paws; and treats like jerky and chicken and lamb bites. Riley met with an dog psychic animal communicator who talks telepathically with animals, much like Dr. Doolittle. The communicator said that Riley came from a place where she wasn't treated very well (very plausible since we got her from the pound), but not sure how much we'll pay attention to the treatment of her first chakra with the recommended herbs and essences.
Humans weren't left out of the mix. Chaz Dean provided a number of salon treatments. This LAist poster had a great mini-facial by a team from The Healing Rose specializing in Dr. Hauschka skin treatments; raw vegan treats provided by Green Lantern Organic and window shopped for doggie couture and jewelry.
Celebs we spotted early on Saturday afternoon included Eric Roberts and his wife Eliza (who left their dogs at home) and James Avery, the dad from Fresh Prince of Bel Air, with his wife and their dog (which we think was a big black standard poodle). Now while we're sure there were other celebs running around on Saturday afternoon, the cute puppies stole the show.
