LAst Night's Action: Historic Win for Lakers
LA Lakers defeat Dallas Mavericks 100-95. Well the Lakers didn’t heed my suggestion in resting players. Kobe, Ron Artest and Sasha Vujacic played. The starting front court each had a double-double with Andrew Bynum getting 22 points and 11 boards, Lamar Odom with 18 points and 14 rebounds and Ron Artest with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Jordan Farmar also came up big with 12 crucial points leading the bench while Kobe was sitting out most of the game. While Dirk Nowitzki got his 20,000th point, the 34th player in NBA history to do so, the Lakers became the first NBA franchise to get their 3,000th victory. While the Lakers did look to have the game in the bag, the Mavs managed to tie the game at 95-95 with 42 seconds left in the game. But Kobe, even ailing, made a clutch jumper from the right elbow as the shot clock was expiring. Despite playing some bad defense, the Lakers did manage to make the lead stick.
New Orleans Hornets defeat LA Clippers 108-94. With Chris Kaman out for the second straight game with back spasms, the short handed Clippers could not overcome the Hornets. Chris Paul scored 15 points and 15 assists while Emeka Okafur led all scorers with 21 points. For the Clips, Baron Davis had 19 points while Marcus Camby swallowed 20 rebounds. The Clippers will come home to the Staples Center on Friday to play a road game against the Lakers.
Anaheim Ducks defeat Boston Bruins 4-3. Winners of five in a row, the Ducks scored twice in the third period thanks to Ryan Getzlaf and Steve Eminger to take the lead. They held off a furious comeback attempt by the Bruins to get the win. Slowly yet surely they are crawling out of their hold in search for a playoff spot.
