Carroll, Seahawks Close to Deal
LA Times' Gary Klein and Sam Farmer are reporting that USC football head coach Pete Carroll and the Seattle Seahawks are close to a deal worth $7 million a year for five years that would also make Carroll president. Daily News' Scott Wolf is reporting the only question remaining is how much power Carroll will have in the Seahawks organization.
The Seahawks will also have to fill a vacancy for a general manager this coming week.
Meanwhile word is that USC athletic director is already on the phone with Oregon State head coach Mike Riley to replace Carroll. Also reportedly on the short list to replace Carroll are Jacksonville Jaguars' head coach Jack del Rio, Tennessee Titans' head coach Jeff Fisher and perhaps a longshot Stanford head coach Jim Harbaugh.
