Will Travis Pastrana Break a World Record in Long Beach Tonight?
At the stroke of 9 p.m.--that's midnight East Coast time for those watching on ESPN where this stunt will air--motocross superstar Travis Pastrana will attempt the longest jump in a rally car, from the Pine Street Pier onto a barge anchored in the harbor in Long Beach. He'll need to fly 230 feet over open water to do it and beat the current record of 171 feet, according to the Long Beach Press Telegram.
If he misses--"I'm still scared to death," he tells the paper--the Long Beach Fire Department will be on hand and there will be a scuba tank in the car in case he floats to the bottom.
Good luck, Travis!
