Texas Tech head football coach Mike Leach was fired Wednesday morning with cause. Brooks over at SPORTSbyBROOKS did a great job of getting the information out as it was released. Leach was due in court to fight his suspension over the Adam James incident. With Leach still in San Antonio for the Alamo Bowl, his attorney Ted Liggett received a letter from Texas Tech’s lawyers prior to the hearing in the judge’s chambers.
The reaction has been mixed. While residents around Lubbock have rallied around Leach, certain players on the team are breathing a sigh of relief.
- The Pac-10 is not representing itself very well in bowl season. With Oregon State and Cal losing to Utah and BYU, Arizona joined in on their fun with their 33-0 blowout loss to Nebraska in the Holiday Bowl in San Diego. While defensive tackle wunderkind Ndamukong Suh was relatively quiet, the Husker defense gave up Holiday Bowl records of 109 yards of offense to the Wildcats and six first downs. I turned the game off in the third quarter. Just remember, the only Pac-10 teams to win their bowl games so far are USC and UCLA.
