Here at LAist, we love to shop local. This year in our "LAist Goes Shopping" series, from downtown to Abbot Kinney we found amazing things by talented independent designers, as well as vintage jewelry, Japanese housewares, and pop culture themed pop-up shops.

House of Love & Luck On La Cienega next to The Roger Room and Largo at the Coronet, The House of Love & Luck is full of beautiful vintage costume jewelry.

Jane Doe John Doe Project Runway designer Jerell Scott gave us a looks inside this boutique he owns with Ani Lee. He even modeled a few of his designs for us.

Japan LA Owner Jamie Rivandeira stocks her store full of the cutest in Japanese pop culture. She also curated the Three Apples: 35 Years of Hello Kitty show at Royal/T.

Sanrio celebrated Hello Kitty's 35th anniversary in Los Angeles at Royal/T with the Three Apple art show and the ultimate Hello Kitty pop-up shop . From the size of the crowd on opening night, it's safe to say Japan's favorite cat has a huge LA fan club.

Shop@CAFAM The store at the Craft and Folk Art Museum is full of a wide range of imports and work by California designers. A great destination for gift shopping and supports a great local cultural institution.

Loyal Army Adorable smiley clouds face t-shirts and tote bags with talking cookies make Loyal Army the dream tween shop.

Hotel de Ville The place for gorgeous vintage deadstock eyewear.

New High (M)art Since this peek into the Chinatown shop, New High (M)art has moved to Loz Feliz.

Poketo Pop-Up Shop Poketo popped up at Royal/T and we also visited owners Ted Vadakan and Angie Myungat their Barker Block offices. This year Poketo also collaborated with Bobby Solomon on the Kitsune Noir x Poketo SPACETIME Collection.

Tortoise on Abbot Kinney stocks contemporary Japanese housewares, furniture, and art. With both a general store and the gallery space owners Keiko and Taku Shinomoto fill Tortoise with natural shapes and innovative designs.

"Where the Wild Things Are" Pop-Up Shop at Space 15 Twenty One of the most innovative marketing campaigns for a film made the fall of 2009 all about Wild Things. The pop-up shop at Space 15 Twenty felt like walking onto the set.

&Still Caleb Bacon headed to La Brea to check out Early '90s Sportswear at &Still. If you need a Wrestlemania VII shirt or vintage sports jersey, this is the place.

CB2 Though we love to shop local, it doesn't stop us from checking out all kinds of new stores. When CB2 opened at 8000 Sunset, Lindsay William-Ross headed over to get a sneak peek into their new LA digs.

Unique LA Whether you made it to Unique LA or not, the roster of artists is a great resource for independent local designers. We now look forward to it every year.

Tokidoki Last week designer Simone Legno gave us a sneak peek into the new Tokidoki store on Melrose.
