Our search for the best hot chocolate in LA has led us to Lamill in Silver Lake. In the January 2010 Issue, Bon Appetit names Lamill one of the 10 Best Boutique Coffee Shops in the country. Their hot chocolate had been highly recommended. So it was time to taste hot chocolate 'a Lamill'.

A friendly waitress was eager to tell us about the preparation. Straus organic milk is mixed into melted Valrhona dark chocolate with some sugar and cooked slowly to make a drink that tastes not overly sweet with the intense taste of fresh chocolate. The cup is topped with steamed milk and garnished with chocolate spiderwebs and flowers. Best of all, it was $3. Also offered as a cold chocolate milk, we'll be craving this one all year round.
