An overnight water main break in Silver Lake is still causing problems this morning as crews work to restore service to affected customers in the area, according to LA Now. The break in the 12-inch main happened at around 2:15 a.m. near El Cid, a restaurant located at 4212 W. Sunset Blvd. between Bates and Myra Avenues [map].

The break caused mud and water to pour out into the restaurant's parking lot, which sits below the restaurant on Myra Avenue. Water flowing onto West Sunset Boulevard caused some cars parked in front of the business to get stuck.

Additionally, as a result of the rupture, 20 customers in the immediate area lost water service; LA DWP spokeswoman Gail Harris says their "crews have been working and hope to have water restored by 11 a.m. There’s no guarantee, but that’s our target time.”

As of now there is no indication of what caused the break, which caused some street damage and flooding.
