Santa Monica Police Arrest Suspect in Murder of Newborn
Santa Monica police this afternoon arrested a suspect in North Hollywood for the murder of his two-month old step-daughter after he brought her to an emergency room on October 4th. She had stopped breathing and was found to be in full cardiac arrest. Hospital staff resuscitated her twice and placed her on a ventilator. And initial examination by a medical specialist revealed that injuries were consistent with “shaken baby syndrome," prompting hospital officials to notify Santa Monica Police and Department of Children and Family Services.
Per a court order, the baby girl was taken off life support on November 22nd. An autopsy a few days later further revealed evidence consistent with previous findings. The death was then listed as a homicide leading to today's arrest of 33-year-old Donald Hillman at 3:30 p.m.
