The Carmichael Gallery of Contemporary Art in West Hollywood puts on some of the edgiest and coolest art shows in town. Tonight is the opening reception for Dark Doings with art by street artist Dan Witz.
"This is the Brooklyn based artist’s first US west coast solo exhibition," explains a gallery e-mail blast. "In Dark Doings, Witz will showcase a selection of pieces from his expansive summer street project of the same name. Created both for the street and gallery, the subtle, haunting images of human and animal faces trapped behind dirty glass windows are inspired by a recent visit earlier in the year to the red light district of Amsterdam."
Tonight's reception is from 7.00pm - 10.00pm, but you must RSVP by e-mail at rsvp@carmichaelgallery.com.
Public Transit
Tonight kicks off a series of public meetings for the regional connector in downtown. If built, one train ride (yes, no transfers) would take you between Long Beach and Pasadena or Culver City and East L.A. More info here.
Threatre Opening
Tree makes its premiere tonight at the Ford Amphitheate's indoor theatre, [inside] the Ford. Described: "Three generations divided by race, culture and time connect when a white Southern woman discovers old love letters leading her to an African-American half-brother." It costs $20 ($12 for students), but Thursdays are always Pay-What-You-Can night. More info here.
