Bogus: South LA Considered a Flood Zone, Residents Pay Thousands

Tonight's episode of SoCal Connected on KCET will air an episode detailing how some South LA residents are being forced to pay thousands of dollars because they are in some so-called new flood zone, as determined by the all-mighty FEMA.

Jill Stewart at LA Weekly calls this maddening, saying the special shos "longtime resident Isaac Robinson standing on a South Central street that's not in the silly new flood zone. Yet, as Robinson notes to [reporter Judy] Muller, KCET's cameraman standing a few feet away 'is in the flood zone.'" Stewart goes on, detailing how it's not only FEMA's screwup, but a major blunder for Mayor Villaraigosa's administration.

This will be worth a watch. As noted in today's TV Junkie, show airs at 8 p.m. tonight and will also air tomorrow at 8:30 p.m. on KCET.
