'Ironic Hipster Bar' Stinkers to Celebrate 1 Year

217031318_94280e27f1.jpg Has it been a year already? The "Eastside's" most loved/hated bar, Stinkers Truck Stop, will celebrate its one-year anniversary this Sunday evening with drink specials and swag including, wait for it, air-fresheners and hats. For those who remember, an LAist post last year about the bar became quite heated in the comments section. One year later, we're curious if this place is still ironic.

One year later and I still haven't stepped foot in the place. And I don't even have anything against it, really. I just tend to stick to the Bigfoot (east). I'm curious to see how heated the debate is these days...

Some comments from the old post, in remembrance and reasoning:

"What the hell ISN'T an ironic hipster hang out in Hollywood or Silverlake?"

"Is there anything more "hipster" than passionately debating if a bar that plays the Marshall Tucker Band and sells canned beer is ironic or not? Who fucking cares?"

I don't care for Stinkers or ironic hipsters or the use of the word ironic hipsters but jeeeeez, the girl who wrote that original post is just oozing with hate.

I don't understand why you guys are so worried about this stuff. If you don't want to be ironic, then... don't?

Nothing "hipster" about the place, ironic or otherwise. It's Saddle Ranch east, or maybe Big Wang's. The place needs to be either moved 15 miles west, or just firebombed.

after hearing so much crap abou this this place I went in there...gotta tell ya, we had a rockn good time and spent 1/2 of what we normally do up the street. I may be a convert! Does that make me a hipster now?

The only bar worth going to in Silverlake/Los Feliz/Echo Park is the Edendale and Shortstop before Dodgers games. For all those dismissing everything West of Vermont you've been camped out in your neighborhood for far too long.

Ah, a post about an ironic hipster bar with "wait for it" in the post. How about an across-the-board moratorium on the "wait for it" bit? Yes, yes, we get it - it's ironic and hip (and pointless) when included in a printed piece where there's no live audience that is jumping the gun with applause or laughter. But it's not funny, it's overdone and - wait for it! - it's lazy writing.

See, I just used it there and it added nothing.

Twenty years from now, "Stinkers" will be gone, but "Tube Socks!", an ironic American Apparelesque, hipster-themed bar, will be going strong in its spot.

I was really hoping that this bar would be good but when I went there I found that the music was extremely loud like more than a normal bar would usually have it.

And the whole layout was kind of a fail imo , they should have cleared that back area for some sort of dance area or just to have it be more open

p.s the skunks shooting shit out of there ass could be turned off

where is the new 2010 bar gonna be ?

this place is probably fun if you're into this sort of thing. i'm not so i don't go there. the best bar in this area by some considerable distance is el prado.

aha, so THIS is why comments were showing up on my post a year later! thanks, zach. :) anyway, the year hasn't changed my opinion. stinkers is still just as lame now as it was then.

and p.s., you're all hippies. especially you, carlosthedwarf.
