Haunted Trail entrance (those cornstalks are about 12 ft high)
It's a mix of a family fun festival--think hay ride, a large cornfield maze and kid activities-- and two adult-themed attractions, which open after dusk. Both the "Factory of Nightmares" Haunted House and the "Creatures of the Corn" Haunted Trail are good for jumps (and a lot of screams if you get scared easily). Is it the scariest in the area? Probably not, but a shaking elevator, clowns, a chainsaw guy in a cornfield and a bunch of other spooks made for a good time last night.
It costs $4 to get into the festival (free with a Metro ticket, since the Orange Line is across the street), but the prices add up if you want to try the large cornfield maze (not scary, but cool in the dark), the haunted trail and haunted house. To do all three, you're talking $25 (and to $30 for priority lines, which is worth it if the lines are long). To skip out on the maze, it's $20 total. And to just do one of the adult-themed attraction, it's $12 (and if you do, we recommend the haunted house).
About the photo: That monster at the entrance of the "Creatures of the Corn" haunted trail actually moves. We saw a grown man actually fall to the ground when it went after him. That was awesome to watch.
