Since this morning, one block of Wilshire Boulevard has been closed to traffic. Police were alerted at 8 a.m. to a suspicious bag left on the 3600 block of Wilshire, prompting the usual response by the LAPD--close the area down, send out the bomb squad. Officer Rosario Herrera said there is no word when the street will be reopened.

Probably a coincidence, but what with the shooting at the North Hollywood synagogue this morning and the 3600 block being adjacent to the landmark Wilshire Temple, one can't help but wonder...
There are several bums who live in this area and often leave bags of junk lying about. I expect that's what has motivated the cops to engage in one of their little displays of ritualized hysteria.
@ken hagler
agreed. anything to the have excuse to roll out the militarized, armored vehicles.
i find suspicious bags and boxes all of the time while out photographing the city. it's funny though, how i never seem to get blown up every time i go looking through one.
