Villaraigosa Says 30 Years is too Long to Wait for Transit Projects

Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa tomorrow is expected to announce his plans in building support for something he calls the "30/10" push to accelerate Measure R transit projects--the voted in half cent sales tax increase--from being completed in 30 years to 10 years.

We bask in that vision, too, chock full of a subway to the sea (or just UCLA), a light rail from Culver City to Santa Monica, a rail connection to LAX and more. The big question is, how will it be done? Is this a realistic endeavor?

Hopefully that will be answered tomorrow when he speaks at the Los Angeles Business Council’s Annual Mayoral Housing, Transportation, and Jobs Summit at UCLA tomorow afternoon, a few hours after he takes a sneak peek ride on the new Gold Line Eastside Extension.

Yes! This is why I support AnVil. For all his faults, he is and has always been a supporter of our urban future. He'll be considered a visionary in 25 years.

If he pulls it off, it will be the only thing he is remembered for. I can live with that.
