Video: Woman Maces Kid on Metro Red Line Subway

We've seen our fair share of aggressive behavior while taking the Red Line, but this video, taken between Hollywood and Highland and Universal City, is pretty disgusting. Sure the kids are acting like total brats and rudely harassing the woman (called the "crackhead" in this video), but does one of them deserve mace in the eye?

the kid and the mom were making fun of her. they wouldn't quit. hopefully something clicked and they'll never make fun of people on the train.

an adult macing a 12 year old is horrible. i also have NO IDEA why FOD assume the woman was a crackhead. blug.

Well clearly all the commotion was caused by the fact that there were THREE bikes on one subway car, and the rules clearly state only TWO bikes are allowed per car. Will cyclists never put an end disorder they cause?

My brain hurts from watching this video. I can't decide if I want to laugh, cry or be angry.

- the mom is an idiot for not keeping her kids in line
- the kids are idiots for not keeping their mouths shut
- the hooker's an idiot for getting into it with the kids
- the hooker's even more of an idiot for macing the kid

This is what happens when idiocy collides with each other.

I'm going to go back to watching the SF muni fight on SFist.

upon further reflection, the mom should've been maced.

n*ggers acting like n*ggers. why is everybody shocked? I laughed my a** off watching this. Maybe someday that race will figure out how to behave but for now they provide me with endless entertainment. I'm just glad the hooker was black because if she was'nt we would be forced to see the Sharpton/Jackson experience for months. Isnt it funny how those two never appear to discuss the terrible behavior of their own kind?

actually, cityslicker, "i got insurance" isn't proper grammar either, you ignorant piece of shit.

The question: "...but does one of them deserve mace in the eye?"

The answer: Yes. Those kids are annoying as hell. Actually, everyone in this scene deserves mace in the eye.

Cityslicker is one of those keyboard toughguys.

Will he say a damn thing when riding the blue line? No.

Instead of hiding behind a keyboard go on the blue line and make your feelings known. While you are getting stomped like punk you will be providing others with entertainment.

Hope you have insurance!

ITA LAdaddy.

Cityslicker, I've seen plenty of shitty behavior from people of every ethnic group. No one has the market cornered on shitty behavior.

And in defense of the Red Line, I ride it all the time and have never seen anything like that happen.

LAdaddy, here's a picture of cityslicker relaxing at home in one of his pick-up trucks, (which doubles as his jaccuzzi)...

And here's a pic of his "hot wife" cooling off after their big night out at Burger King.

I got plenty of insurance. And you wont see me on the blue line or any other line because i have 4 cars and 2 trucks that I love to drive... not because im afraid of these riff-raff. Its called working hard earning a great living, getting a hot wife, and moving as far away from this filthy city as I can. You envy me LAdaddy, you know it and you know you cant do anything about it, which leads you to hoping I get "stomped like punk." Learn the proper use of articles in your speech man, you wouldnt want anyone thinking that you were ignorant would you?

cityslicker - you should take your 4 cars and 2 trucks, and move FURTHER away.. lets say Middle America, buy a trailer there, you will fit right in.

actually, cityslicker, "i got insurance" isn't proper grammar either, you ignorant piece of shit.

4 cars, 2 trucks and a large horse that you like to go down on after a hard days work. You're a punk in every sense of the word.

"Proper use of articles"... yeah okay buddy.

As long as you keep your stupid thoughts to yourself you might make it out of LA. Everyone on this website knows that big mouths like you get dealt with pretty quickly.

Yeah, about that 4 cars and 2 trucks, a hot wife and all that crap. Everyone here believes everything you say. Everything . . . .

Big mouths get dealt with quickly? How? With a beating? It seems odd that the majority of commentators here would say that macing the child in the video is not justified because after all, they were just words. Yet a beating for a racist for speaking his stupid, racist thoughts would be justifiable. It doesn't make much sense.

In both cases, you do not combat words with physical violence or else you become entertainment for everyone who can stream video over the Internet.

Yet another example as to why you'll never get Angelenos out of their cars.

if you don't respect others, don't expect them to respect you. I ride the Red Line occasionally, young black people annoyed as hell.

sorry daddy, no horses. they stink. kinda like subways. and that city. and its residents.

I'm all for not silencing folks, even if they're crazy. But cityslicker's comments are highly offensive and straight up racist.

It's disappointing and shameful that for the sake of getting comments and hits to this post, LAist chose to keep cityslicker's comment published.

Really upsetting.

Why would your username be "cityslicker" if you don't even like the city... or its residents?

I'm gonna have to agree with djjewelz. Personally the 12 year old is not exempt from his bad behavior. If I spoke like that my mom would have beat the crap out of me.

Bad kids grow up to be bad parents or maybe even crackhead hookers!

The child is not exempt from bad behavior, but the punishment doesn't fit the crime at all. Getting maced for calling someone a crackhead is fucking stupid, and if you disagree with that then you're a moron.

"Will he say a damn thing when riding the blue line? No."

Why not? What will happen?

By the way, white people are crazy too. Here's my favorite bus fight video, and it didn't even happen on public transportation: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LigK-8YKdj8

I was on a transcontinental flight where the one toy a mom brought for her young son to play with was a toy drum. Fortunately for them both, apparently no one was packing mace on that plane.
