Have you seen this yet? If not, don't worry. But just in case you need to hear Adam Goldberg explain how restaurants in Silver Lake suck (dude, we dig Edendale Grill's Secret 3-Cheese Delight, savvy?) and how Franklin Avenue is difficult to cross, here you go.
Thankfully, Goldberg admits his bitching consists of "bourgeois problems" and that this is all in good fun. The vid is in promotion of his NYC-based flick called (untitled).
And if you were curious what specific restaurant Goldberg seems to be referring to, that would be Speranza, says Pat Saperstein at Eating L.A. For what it's worth, most of the Yelp reviews disagree.

Ha! Glad you called him on this. Boring indeed. Maybe if he left the "Eastside" (I use quotes for the purists) once in a while, he wouldn't be so miserable.
Yeah of course I cringed when he called Silver Lake an "eastside" LA community, but still watched the thing all the way through just for further proof that without writers putting words in their mouths, mot actors are best served shutting the hell up.
I may have to go watch his death scene in "Saving Private Ryan" just to feel better.
i'm totally going to throw out my dvd copy of Hebrew Hammer when I get home from work - ha ha.
oh, life is hard. ::yawn::

This video makes me want to move out of LA. Not because I agree with any of the somewhat jokey complaints in these ridiculous, indulgent ramblings. Just because staying here means living near this douche wad.
Goldberg is a neurotic douche, and, sorry, neither funny nor a good actor. He's actually pretty good at spoiling movies, so whenever we see him in the credits, we stay away!
DIdn't seem too upset with LA when he was talking up the barber at Archie's of Hollywood in Studio City. But of course, that was a different ass he was kissing at the moment.
Sorry, in Sherman Oaks. Wouldn't want to get Lindsay all upset about mixing bordering neighborhoods.
He dissed the Franklin Village!
Odd since he frequents the bars, restaurants and the comedy theater along that strip.
jeebus! sooo boring!
this one's better (funnier):

I quite like Adam Goldberg.
Come on folks. Let's exercise some listening comprehension. He didn't say Silverlake was on the "eastside". He said it was an eastern suburb of Los Angeles. After looking at a map of the city it is indeed in an eastern part of the city. But hey I'm just some guy from the valley. I'm probably not up to speed on how the rest of the city thinks.
VT: Unfortunately refering to Silver Lake as an "eastern suburb" is pretty much the same thing. I guess it's easy to look at a map and from a westside or valley or transplanted perspective not consider downtown the city's center and thus think Silver Lake, Echo Park, Los Feliz, Atwater Village, etc is eastern most in flavor.
But such a nouveau POV troubles those of us who see things a bit more historically dating back to 200-plus years ago when everything between downtown and the city's original western boundary of Hoover was the original westside, and the true eastside was and is east of the LA River.
get a sense of humor, folks. this is harmless zinging of a couple of specific places. anyway, he's a native of the area so he's kinda got carte blanche with regards to l.a.-dissing.
I too was thrown off by the "eastern suburb" mention. Would Silver Lake/Los Feliz really qualify as a "suburb" of L.A., when it's a part of the city?
I've always taken the position that if it's beyond city limits and mainly single family homes, then it is a suburb. Think Valencia.
Some definitions agree and some not on this google search
I'm just never a fan of people saying the San Fernando Valley L.A. neighborhoods are suburbs, especially when I can walk to five bars, two coffeeshops, various restaurants, from my place, which is a lot of times, more than what many (but not all) "over the hillers" can say about where they live.
