LAX Ranked 3rd Worst Airport in the World. Are You Surprised?

For an airport that looks horrible, operates terribly and still has no train connection, who would be surprised at the latest poll results?

Based on an online survey taken by 14,000 members and world travelers of Priority Pass, LAX came in number three behind London's Heathrow Airport and Charles de Gaulle International Airport in Paris.

A $1.13 billion remodeling project for the Tom Bradley International Terminal was approved last week. That project should be completed by mid 2013.

Nothing is as bad as Atlanta. I've never had so many problems anywhere else.

LAX does suck pretty hard. Wish when jet blue opened in lax they added something like T5 in jfk.

I'm not surprised. It takes 15 minutes to taxi once you land, and another 25 minutes to get your bags.

I'm actually shocked. Have these people never traveled to central america or africa? Or rural US airports?

All US airports are dismal, old and outdated, except maybe the renovated San Francisco airport. When rising developing nations like Malaysia and Thailand have state of-the-art airports that outrank every US airport, you know we are in trouble.

I think they are referring to the major airports. I've been to an airport in china where they cancel flights on a whim, trust me, it's no fun. the reason those countries invest in airports is b/c they understand (unlike LA) that when ppl arrive in their country it's the first thing they encounter. they want to make a good first impression

I am surprised. I've never had a problem checking in and flying out. Flights are rarely delayed out of LA because of our weather, plenty of reasonable parking on site and just off site and what destination can't you fly to?

The only thing missing from LAX is direct public transportation via subway and that is well on its way to becoming a reality.

Well, this is being judged by a group of people who pay to use airport lounges and from what I've LAX's facilities in that matter are lacking. I'd have been interested to see what the questions were.

Tom Bradley is a horrible terminal. Compared to other international terminals where you can bide your time doing a little high end tax free shopping and even get a mani pedi or massage, Tom Bradley is the backwards cousin of airports. The only places to relax at Tom Bradley is a Wolfgang Puck to go (not even a real restaurant) and a greasy spoon that serves their food on paper plates with plastic utensils. This is what Los Angeles wants their international travellers to see? Roadside diners and food you can buy at a supermarket?

At least you wouldn't mind being stranded at Heathrow (#1 worst) as it has pubs, sushi and shopping. Too bad the queues to get through security are so horrible.

My favorite airports are Raleigh/Durham, Honolulu and Dallas/Ft Worth.

My least favorite by far is Las Vegas. Airports are noisy enough without having to listen to those damned slot machines.

I had a brief layover there in July and it felt like the air conditioning was set to 90 degrees. The ladies restroom in the Southwest gate area looked like it hadn't been cleaned all day. Toilet paper, hand towels and water all over the floor, filthy sinks and stalls. Nothing like a hot, dirty, stinky airport to put air travelers in a good mood.

I sent an email to the Vegas airport manager about my concerns but never received any response back.

Needless to say, I will be avoiding any Vegas layovers in the future.

Frankly, I don't understand why anyone would want to visit that town anymore. It's mere existence is based on siphoning off as much of your hard earned money as possible.

Instead of taxes, the government should install $10.99 buffets and slot machines at all federal offices.

The deficit would be wiped out in no time.
