For those who plan on getting the H1N1 vaccine and fit into the priority group categories, but don't have insurance, are underinsured or could just use a free dose, rotating free clinics in Los Angeles County open tomorrow. Only a handful are open each day, rotating in different parts of the region.
For example, clinics will be open tomorrow in Encino and Culver City only. On Saturday and Sunday, the number expands with clinics from Granada Hills to Wilmington. Then on Monday, only one clinic will be open in Industry. A full list of clinics by date through the first week of November is available here (.pdf). The county has also put together a list by city (.pdf).
Those considered to be in the priority group are pregnant women, people who live with or care for infants under six months of age, healthcare and emergency services personnel, people aged six months through 24 years of age and people aged 25 through 64 years of age who have health conditions that put them at higher risk for flu-related complications.
Meanwhile, the H1N1 story is unfolding. As of October 17, 233 people in California have died from the disease with flu-related hospitalizations on the rise, which an unusual spike for this time of year.
