Missing Sheriff's Deputy Found Dead in Cleveland Nat'l Forest

16.search.102109.ho.jpg The body of 42-year-old Zoltan Tombol was found today after a couple days of searching in the Cleveland National Forest. Tombol, an L.A. County Sheriff's Deputy described as being in in exquisite shape, went missing Sunday night when he went hiking. Officials have been mum about any speculation to the cause of death, but when his truck was found yesterday, there were no signs of foul play. An autopsy will be performed tomorrow.

I saw the story KTLA did on this news. While the news package played B-Roll of the "motorcade" bringing the Deputy down the mountain, you could hear the voice of the reporter (Chuck Yost?) or producer asking the camera person, "[Did] you get it? That's the money shot!" Worst use of natural sound in a LA local news piece possibly ever. I get that reporters are jaded, it's their job blah, blah, blah...but they had all of the hour of Melrose Place to put that piece together and edit it. Couldn't they have checked it before air-time? Way to go 4th Estate. Your sense of urgency trumps all other journalistic tenets.
