BOOKS
Former Los Angeles Times reporter Bill Boyarsky discusses his book Inventing L.A.: The Chandlers and Their Times tonight at 7 pm at Diesel, A Bookstore Brentwood. The book focuses on the Chandlers' reign over LA through the L.A. Times. It’s a tale of politics, family and fortune with the city of Angels as backdrop.
MUSIC TALK
The Grammy Museum’s “The Drop” series continues tonight at 8 pm with Todd Snider. The singer/songwriter will discuss and perform selections from his newest album, The Excitement Plan (Yep Roc Records) for an audience of 200 in the Museum’s GRAMMY Sound Stage. Snider will be in conversation with legendary producer Don Was and Museum Executive Director Robert Santelli. Tickets are $10; $8 for Members.
CONVERSATION*
Errol Morris and Ricky Jay are featured guests tonight at 7 pm at the Getty’s Harold M. Williams Auditorium as part of a “Getty Perspectives” lecture. The filmmaker Morris (Standard Operating Procedure, The Fog of War, The Thin Blue Line) and actor-author Ricky Jay will discuss issues around reality and illusion, especially in art and film. Admission is free, but reservations are required.

There’s a shoe fashion show tonight at EM & Co featuring KM2 Shoes, founded by sisters Megan, Katelyn and Mattison Gelber, 7-10 pm. There’ll be Pearl Vodka Cocktails, IZZE Sparkling Juice, Miss Priss Cupcakes and tunes from DJ Teemaree. Oh and for those daunted by the challenge of parking on 3rd Street?
