LA Kings defeat San Jose Sharks 6-4. The Kings exploded on the reigning President's Cup winner San Jose Sharks jumping out to a 4-0 lead in the second period. But then the penalties mounted and the Sharks took advantage scoring four powerplay goals. However 26 seconds after the Shark's Dany Heatley scored that last powerplay goal, Teddy Purcell found the puck after a faceoff and beat goalie Thomas Greiss. Davis Drewskie capped off the scoring with 1:19 remaining on an empty-net goal, the first goal of his NHL career. Center Anze Kopitar scored the fourth goal for the Kings in the second period and notched two assists. It wasn't a pretty game and the Kings need to really work on their penalty kill. But two points is two points for their first win of the NHL season after an embarrassing loss to the Phoenix Coyote on Saturday.

Minnesota Wild defeat Anaheim Ducks 4-3 (OT). The Ducks got out to a 3-0 lead in the second period thanks to the strangers: Joffrey Lupul, Evgeny Artyukhin and Saku Koivu. However with 14 minutes left in the third period, the Wild came back thanks to goals from Koivu's brother Mikko, Petr Sykora and Eric Belanger. In overtime with defenseman James Wisniewski in the penalty box, Andrew Brunette scored the winning goal to keep the Ducks winless. However with the overtime loss, the Ducks did earn a point and remain without a loss in regulation in their last 10 road games.
