Forest Service officials today lowered the estimated size of the Sheep Fire by about 700 acres to 7,128 acres. Spokesperson Norma Bailey said new GPS technology being deployed has been helping the estimates to be more accurate.
Overnight, fire personnel upped containment to 32 percent with full containment not expected before Saturday.
Mandatory evacuations in the Lytle Creek and Wrightwood areas, which will be re-evaluated this afternoon, remain in effect. Highway 2 also remains closed.
