Weather Expected to Aid in Sheep Fire Fight Today

The Sheep Fire began Saturday and quickly rolled through the western portion of the San Bernardino National Forest in the San Gabriel Mountains, prompting thousands to evacuate as it headed towards Wrightwood. Now 20 percent contained and 7,500 acres in size, firefighters say today's weather should be helpful.

"The weather is much better today, we've had a decrease in winds and it's still pretty cool, which is good for firefighting," said Tim Tate, a San Bernardino County Fire Department spokesman.

Highway 2, Highway 138 from Interstate 15 to Highway 18, Lone Pine Canyon Road and Lytle Creek Road (not to residents) are closed.

lest anyone forget, Wrightwood remains that distant township where we ordered all those "emergency meals" for MJ's memorial service.

given the evacuation order, let's hope no one else of note dies in LA, as there won't be any vendors capable of supplying meals in a timely fashion from 60+ miles away.
