KNX1070 is reporting that the head of the Los Angeles Department of Water & Power will resign today. A rash of recent water main breaks, including flooding in Studio City and a fire truck sucking sinkhole in Valley Village, apparently has played a role in CEO David Nahai's decision. An announcement by Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa is expected at 1 p.m.
Update: Yes, David Nahai is resigning, according to statement by Villaraigosa. He will now be the Senior Advisor for the Clinton Climate Initiative.
"I would like to thank David Nahai for his four years of service at the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power where he led the team responsible for increasing the City's renewable energy portfolio, reducing water consumption to record levels, and putting us on the path to be coal free by 2020," the statement read. "I wish him great success in his new endeavor as Senior Advisor to the Clinton Climate Initiative where he will use his experience and leadership skills to advance their core mission of finding and
developing workable solutions to climate change."

Slightly off topic but has anyone noticed the increased amount of chlorine in the tap water lately? Does this have to do with the water main breaks? Debate among friends why getting in the shower currently feels like a dip in a pool...
