There are Nearly 6 Job Seekers for Each Online Listing in LA & OC

Independent business research and analysis organization The Conference Board has released their data for the ratio of job seekers to jobs posted online for the month of September. They found that there "were 5.66 people in the Los Angeles-Orange County metro area looking for jobs in September for every online help-wanted ad," explains the OC Register.

Although there are hints that the economy is improving (or, perhaps better said not worsening) there still remains a number of Californians who are under- or unemployed. September's figures indicate a rise from the previous month, when 4.99 people were seeking work for every one job posted.

The LA-OC area has the second-highest ratio in the state, trailing Riverside, who more than doubles the ratio with a whopping 11.04. "Statewide, there were 5.8 Californians seeking work in September for every online help-wanted, second in the country after Michigan with 10.21. California's ratio of vacancies to job seekers has basically stayed around 6 since April."
