No 'Identifiable' Threat in New York-bound Flight Grounded at LAX [Updated]

lax-scare2.jpg A man who stood up and refused to return to his seat as an United Airlines plane was taxiing for departure prompted the jet to return to the gate this morning. The man, "who appeared to be of Middle Eastern descent," was acting suspiciously and ran into the bathroom, according to the LA Times.

All passengers were re-screened while the LAPD bomb squad searched the aircraft. The passenger in question, described as cooperative, was interviewed by the FBI, which said no criminal charges were anticipated. Flight No. 22 will depart for New York later today.

[Updated: The man apparently had to go to the bathroom. The FBI said they found no "identifiable threat" and no charges are expected to be filed. The plane was bound for Cairo after a stop at JFK in New York City]
