NFL Stadium in Los Angeles Industry Closer to Reality

A lawsuit that was delaying the prospect of a National Football League stadium in the city of Industry--some 26 miles east of downtown Los Angeles--was dropped last night by the neighboring city of Walnut in exchange for a number of concessions. Last April, Industry and the city of Diamond Bar settled their lawsuit.

Walnut will receive $9 million for traffic improvements, assurances that traffic and noise will be controlled and an annual allotment of money--which could be at least $350,00 a year-- that will go into a community fund. There is also now a plan to build a Metrolink platform and some other Walnut traffic projects will be partially paid for.

Although this hurdle has been cleared, Industry and Majestic Realty, the stadium's developer, face another lawsuit from a group of Walnut citizens.

A year ago September, developers said with confidence that "we are going to have a team here next September." That's a big nope, but maybe next September?
