LAst Laugh: This Week in Comedy

Why would you even be in this alley to take this photo? Via kpe2 on Flickr.

This week is a stand up bonanza, with great shows all over town and even down in Irvine. There's also too much good improv to mention, with Boomtown doing stuff Tuesday and Thursday at TNT and Crashbar, respectively. Ladies & Gentlemen are at Let's Do This! on Friday at UCB. It's practically raining jokes out there folks, so grab your chuckle buckets.

MONDAY 9/21

David Cross, 7p The Wiltern. Cross, whose recent interview is here, has decided to take on larger venues with this tour. Somehow I don’t think the Wiltern will feel empty.

Jim Turner Presents: Ross Flournoy, 9p Largo. Music and comedy converge at the little room at Largo.

TUESDAY 9/22

Elite Delta Force 3, 8p Comedy Central Stage. Some two woman sketch comedy that was good enough to win the LA Improv Comedy Festival Audience Award.

Comedy Death Ray, 8:30p UCB. The best stand up show at the best club in Hollywood. Now, that being said, they’ve got some stiff competition this week with ComedyJuice, Norm MacDonald and John Pinette headlining around town.

WEDNESDAY 9/23

Earthquake, 8p Comedy & Magic Club. Longtime stand up Earthquake hits the coastal comedy circuit for a tsunami of laughs... too much?

Collegehumor.com’s ComedyJuice, 10p The Improv. The list shows Dax Shepard and Aziz Ansari, so if that’s not a lie then this is one of the best stand up shows this week.

THURSDAY 9/24

Sit N Spin, 8p Comedy Central Stage. Eddie Pepitone highlights this month’s essay / storytelling show that LAist loves so much.

Kodiak Park, 8p iO West. This great sketch comedy group presents The Case Against Kodiak. I wouldn’t be surprised if no one made it out alive.

John Pinette, 8p Comedy & Magic Club. I seriously love John Pinette, and if you don’t know who he is you should Google him, so you’ll know too.

FRIDAY 9/25

Eddie Ifft, 8p Hollywood Improv. Eddie headlines a great show that also includes Eddie Pepitone and the Sklar Brothers.

Norm MacDonald, 10p Irvine Improv. Go for the late show when Norm is around. It’ll be worth your time.

SATURDAY 9/26

ASSSSCAT, 8p UCB. Check back in with this amazing show. Last week’s guest monologist was the absolutely insane Tom Arnold. Simply the best improv you’ll find.

Paul F. Tompkins Show, 9p Largo. PFT is an absolute comedy staple, and worth your Saturday night. For serious.

SUNDAY 9/27

LOL! Latina on the Loose, 3p LA Theatre Center. One Brazilian woman’s journey across the globe, trying to cope with the different cultures.

Hypnotist Mark Sweet, 7p Ice House. You already know how these shows go, so why not go check it out yourself?

The only reason I'd be in that alley is to take a photo.
