More details are coming out about that home that burned in the Hollywood Hills this morning. Among the items allegedly burned were a priceless art collection including works commission by Napoleon Bonaparte and a Faberge egg, according to KTLA, who spoke to the owner, lawyer Brian Witzer. Additionally, a multi-million dollar Ferrari collection was damaged.
An electrical short in a 600-gallon aquarium may have started the fire, Witzer believes. He also told KTLA that he is upset the the fire department's response time. He says it took them a half hour to arrive, but Los Angeles Fire Department officials say that's not true.
"911 Dispatchers were notified that our Units were on scene less than 8 minutes," said Erik Scott, an LAFD spokesperson.
The fire was first called in at 6:32 a.m. and was knocked down by 7:10 a.m., according to the fire department. The mansion, located at 2047 North Sunset Plaza Drive, is accessed via narrow and windy roads, which are more difficult for fire trucks to navigate.

This guy has plenty of insurance. He will be fine. If you can afford a garage full of Ferraris then you can afford all the insurance that goes with them. Right?
Watched the whole thing from my office window.
re: "He also told KTLA that he is upset the the fire department's response time." What, exactly, is he upset about? Upset that he didn't have adequate fire extinguishers on his property? Upset that it took 38 minutes from the initial 911 call to the time the fire was 'knocked down'?
I agree with LAdaddy... Insurance covers losses.
I can barely drive up there when there aren't parking restrictions with my tiny Scion XA, can't imagine trying to get a fire response unit up there. I actually thought it was phenomenal how fast they got up the hill considering.
I was thinking the same thing!
I'm surprized that LAFD got there at all. Those narrow streets, hair pin turns, and everyone with a car taking up the smallest of parking spaces.
if I could afford priceless art I would store them in a fireproof safe & put fakes on my walls. Sucks about his Ferrari collection tho, maybe we can throw him a benefit concert?
this woke me up this morning! that place is like four streets away and the helicopters were loud as fuck. glad they put it out.
Oh, boo hoo. His priceless art, faberge egg and ferraris were lost. Suck it you out of touch, rich douche.
Reminds me of the Simpson's episode where they ask Homer if there were any valuables in the house. "Oh, well, the Picasso, the Faberge Egg..." "Real valuables, Mr. Simpson, not made-up ones."
One would think he would have a sprinkler system installed in his house.
My sentiments exactly. Millions of dollars spent on vanity and he couldn't splurge on a fire suppression system to protect it?
Ah, I smell insurance fraud...
Lawyer guy made his money suing hardworking innocent people, Karma finally got you.
This guy goes around suing people and ruining other peoples lives. It wouldn't surprise me if someone torched his house. Who remodels a house and puts priceless art pieces in it without a fire sprinkler system. Total disregard for art, shows the arrogance and lack of respect for anyone but himself. WTF quit blaming the LAFD they were there in less then 10 minutes when you should be thanking them for not letting your entire house burn to the ground
