A crash involving four vehicles prompted a SigAlert on the eastbound 118 Freeway during rush hour this morning. A witness told police that a driver of black honda was text messaging prior to hitting a bus, spinning out and hitting other vehicles. Another bus and a box truck were also involved in the crash, which was located before Reseda Boulevard.

"[The alleged text messaging] will be part of the investigation," explained Miguel Luevano, a California Highway Patrol spokesperson, about the witness statement.

One person was transported to Northridge Hospital and two lanes were shut down as Caltrans crews cleaned up debris. The freeway was fully opened at 10:09 a.m.

Sounds like it's time for a Clockwork Orange style viewing of the British PSA against texting while driving.

When are they gonna start handing out tickets for this s**t? I see people driving while on their phones, doing their makeup, and texting all the damn time still.

Book-reading driver prompted my road rage this morning:

While driving Ventura Blvd in Woodland Hills, I happened to pass a slower car in the middle lane (3 lanes each side, light traffic at 8:40 AM, average speed 40MPG).

As I passed him, I look over, and his right hand is up in the air, holding a book. That he is READING.

Several blocks later he finally catches up to me at a red light, and sure enough, still reading his book.

Man, I yelled my ass off at him... and he just smiled and flipped me the bird.

Doh, meant to say 40 MPH... not gallons!
