Local Derby Dolls Team Loses to San Diego, Upcoming Game Scheduled on Weekend with Drew Barrymore's Premiere

As excitement builds for Whip It, Drew Barrymore's directorial debut in October, the Los Angeles Derby Dolls this weekend took on a new team from San Diego. Unfortunately, the Los Angeles Sirens lost to the undefeated Swarm... and by a lot: 104 to 51. Ouch.

Nevertheless, the game makes for a lot of fun no matter who wins or loses. And "Whip It," which stars Barrymore and Ellen Page, is likely to put the alternative sport more on the map. “It doesn’t matter if you’re tall or short or 300 pounds, or 90 pounds. It’s an opportunity to be sexy and strong at the same time,” said the 5-foot 2-inch Axles of Evil, an L.A. Derby Doll who helped train the movie's cast. “You get to beat people up with no regrets. It’s awesome.”

"Whip It" will be released on October 2nd, followed by the next Derby Dolls game on October 3rd.
