"This has officially gotten out of control," tweeted Angeline Vuong, a Citysearch community manager, in reference to LAist's growing list of designer food trucks that Twitter. That list, which was updated yesterday, includes 23 trucks plus six more, like the grilled cheese truck, that are coming to Los Angeles streets soon (add in this fact: a 2006 estimate has the number of taco trucks at nearly 4,000).
It all began with Kogi BBQ, a hybrid of korean and mexican, last November. The city's current stock of food trucks includes cupcakes, Vietnamese, BBQ, Japanese Burgers, sushi, Indian, shaved ice and Peruvian-fusion with breakfast, french fires and pupusas coming soon.
So that begs us to ask, what should be next? A truck that serves delicious pies? How about a sweet stir fry truck (or Mongolian BBQ)? Maybe we need a healthy salad one or a Zankou Chicken truck? The possibilities are endless. What do you think should be next? Comment below!

Soup! And not just Pho, though that would be excellent, but all sorts of soups, stews, chowders, and broths.
Wow, you have me thinking, db. I'll add on to yours and say, how about a Chili truck?!
I'm still waiting for the delicious ($5-$6) gyro platter and ($3-$5) pitasandwich carts that are so plentiful in NYC. Why no love for LA?
That reminds me that we have no potato knish stands, either!
Doner Kebab would be sososo simple and tasty to do in truck-form.
Agreeing with this wholeheartedly, as I don't understand it either. I would LOVE some falafel right about now and it's so easy to find in NYC.
Dim Sum and/or dumplings, they NEVER go out of style. Speaking of dumplings, how awesome would it be to have a gnocchi/gnudi truck too?
And some fab desserts -- bread pudding in a portable cup... gourmet fudgy chocolate brownies... panna cotta with a seasonal-fruit topping... mmm...
Where's my heady Pestomobile?
Something less carby, please. Healthy salads would be nice, but what I'd love to see is yummy skewers of grilled meat!
there's a Skewers truck!
There is? How'd I miss that?! Definitely going to keep an eye out for that.
Belgian Beer Truck please. Quick gangster stops, pour a pint of Westmalle then get the hell out. They could shadow Kogi - spicy pork taco and a good beer!
ahh to dream...
Like seemingly very many things these days, the Chinese are way out ahead of us on the street food front, folks. Co-opt everything food vendors do in Beijing and Shanghai on trucks and bring it here.
HELLS TO THE YEAH....
We could get civet cat, common dogs, melamine added baby milk (YUM!), spicy pork style cardboard box 'bao', bottled tap water in recycled water bottles, rat-on-a-stick, all drenched in "soy sauce" made from human hair clippings.
GREAT IDEA BRAINY L.A. GIRL!!!! GO GET SUM!!!!!!
Obviously you have never been to China nor know anything about the culture. Stick to the stereotypes bud. That should get you real far in life.
I'm Scots/Irish your moron.
Almost as offensive is the fact that you're spewing racist Korean stereotypes on a suggestion for Chinese food carts.
Yeah, maybe you are right. I might be a dumb Korean spewing racist (?).
Chinese in China eat Civet Cats. Fact not racsim.
Chinese in China eat dogs. Fact not racism.
Chinese in China have been known to put melamine in all sorts of stuff. Like baby formula. Fact not racism.
Chinese in China eat rats on a stick. Fact not racsim.
Chinese in China sell tap water out of recycled bottled water bottles. Fact not racism.
Chinese in China ran a news item regarding spiced up cardboard being sold as pork stuffed in 'bao' (big dumpling things). Fact not racism.
Chinese in China have been known to use human hair to make a "Soy Sauce-like Sauce to be used as Soy Sauce. Fact not racism.
Do you idiots use google? Do you read the news? Chinese-Chinese are awful humans who will mow down an entire forest, eat the last protected creature, and willfully poison their own kind including babies. Where the hell have you been? On Mars?
"awful humans who will mow down an entire forest, eat the last protected creature, and willfully poison their own kind including babies."
Sounds like lots of countries, the US included.
Because you can find it in Google then it applies to everyone. Nice. You may want to actually relate to people and not just the internet to be a well rounded, informed person.
Because you pick and choose particular facts to make your point actually makes you sound even more like a racist. I never actually called you a racist but I may rethink that now.
So now that I know who I'm dealing with I'll not waste any more of my time. Thanks for playing.
well not that i agree with kifbox but some of those foods are common in china...and people didn't know about the melamine. theres crap in our food in the US all the time though. E coli, pesticides, etc. We have way more processed cxrap than they do too.
that cardboard stuffed bao story turned out to be a hoax. maybe you missed the news that day.
Yeah, I saw that, makes me want to go order a baker's dozen now that I have been reassured by the PRC that it was all a big hoax.
A vegan truck! It would be healthy too. Or at least it would seem healthy to the dedicated carnivores. Pure Luck pleeeeease.
I think Mandoline Grille is vegan, or at least Vegan-friendly. Coming soon!
It's vegan-friendly! Some trucks do have vegan options, especially if you ask, like Border Grill, Green truck, etc.
I love the Frankenstand (vegan hotdogs), but it's just a cart, not a truck.
Can we get a barista truck up and running in LA? Lattes and pastries, etc? There is a horrific lack of coffee shop action in this area of Santa Monica which makes staying caffeinated at work difficult.
Breakfast tacos.
How about a truck with Scottish fare. Haggis and boiled meat.
Haggis: is a dish containing sheep's 'pluck' (heart, liver and lungs), minced with onion, oatmeal, suet, spices, and salt, mixed with stock, and traditionally boiled in the animal's stomach for approximately three hours. Source Wikipedia
Wow, I can just imagine how the aromas eminating from THAT truck would get my appetite started. Better yet, hows about a chitterlings truck?
Nah, I vote with Zach and the Chili Truck.
Maybe somebody could encourage these guys to go mobile:
http://www.tubschili.com/
Ah, but you don't know what might be in the chili. All that ground meat could come from ANYWHERE. Haggis with a lot of spices for all you know.
May I suggest a Pita Truck...like mine! WWW.PITABROTHERS.COM. We operate successfully in Milwaukee, WI of all places!
How bout a medical marijuana truck... with tasty snacks?
I can't believe there isn't a Bacon wrapped hot dog truck yet. You could really give the street food an update by providing high class bacon wrapped meals on wheels.
Applewood smoked Bacon wrapped artisan hotdogs don't sound good?
A truck that serves 2 things: delicious pies, and coffee (DAMN good, and hot!)
when is someone going to bring halal chicken and rice to LA?!?
Irn-Bru truck.
How about a truck that charges you one extra dollar per order for, lets say a mobile property tax? Would you buy the
best tasting food you ever had then? Or be a real American and protest it?
I think a Dodger dog truck would be cool during the baseball season.
What about a vegan catering truck that provides
an assortment of healthy & tasty food!?
That's what I'm working on!
