The L.A. City Clerk is reminding residents of Council District 2--that's Sherman Oaks through Shadow Hills--to register by Tuesday in order to participate in the September 22 special election to fill the seat vacated by Wendy Greuel, who left to become City Controller.

You can register or re-register to vote by mail by completing a voter registration form that can be obtained at the public counter of most Los Angeles City and County buildings, libraries, fire stations, post offices and Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) offices. Also, the Office of the California Secretary of State offers voters the opportunity to register or re-register to vote online. Finally, you can register or re-register in person at the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk’s Office located at 12400 Imperial Highway, Norwalk, CA 90650.

Ten candidates are vying for the position including Assemblymember Paul Krekorian, LAUSD Board Member and L.A. City Attorney Tamar Galatzan, film industry vet and city commissioner Christine Essel, city hall activist David "Zuma Dogg" Saltsburg and Studio City Neighborhood Council president Michael McCue. The former three listed are considered the frontrunners, but LA Weekly believes the little guys deserve a lot more attention.
