5 people who did not heed mandatory evacuation orders to leave their homes in the Gold Canyon area in the path of the Station Fire are now "trapped in a canyon and it's too dangerous to rescue them," the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department has announced, according to cbs2.com. The four men and one woman called for help today, after having elected against orders to remain in the area.

Plans to send in a large sheriff's rescue helicopter have been abandoned, as "the flames are too intense and authorities must wait for the fire to pass by before going in."

During his press conference yesterday morning, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger took an opportunity to remind those who find themselves in the path of this fast-moving blaze to do as they are told and leave their homes upon orders.

Mandatory Evacuation means two things. Get out now and you live. Stay and you die. It isn't rocket science.

Fire officials in SoCal wildfires: "GTFO."

Residents: "STFU".

Fire: "NOM NOM NOM".

Residents: "OMG".

Fire department: "DIAF"

I know the feeling of impotence in leaving your property as a fire is approaching must be hard. But seriously, there's nothing you can do by staying as opposed to evacuating. You will not single-handedly save your house. You will, best case scenario, end up in the hospital.

They told them THREE times to leave. That imminent danger was coming... I'm glad that the fire dept. is NOT letting their personnel into a dangerous situation.

If dumb asses want to stay back and try and fight 100' flames with a fire hose, well.. that's their prerogative, but don't come knocking for others to risk their lives to come get you when you had plenty of time to get out.

I have family in the fire service, and if they died while rescuing one of these fools... I'd be devastated, and pissed, and whole slew of other things.

I tried to report the ad hidden in markleee's comment. For some reason I can't find the send button. However, you may want to cancel markleee's account, he is clearly abusing his commenting priviledges by hiding an ad in the linked word.

BTW, clicking on the link is like giving this asshole money, and since it's just an ad for some loan company anyway, please don't reward the shit head.
