The 6th edition of the Bicycle Film Festival returns to L.A. tonight! Presented by 42BELOW, the festival extends beyond the films on the silver screen to art, fashion, music and culture pertaining to the cycling world. The festival kicks off tonight at 8 PM with a performance by DEERHUNTER and screening of Bikes Rock! at The Center for Arts in Eagle Rock. Through August 30th.
MUSICA
Timbalero Rudy Regalado and his salsa band play a FREE concert tonight at the Roosevelt Park to get you moving and ready for the rest of the week. A well known name in the L.A. salsa scene, the veteran percussionist has worked with industry giants such as Ruben Blades, Paquito D'Rivera and Chick Corea. Definitely worth checking out. Starts at 6 PM.
MUSIC
Michel Gondry and his friends make an appearance tonight at Amoeba Music starting at 7 PM. The famed music video director/filmmaker/musician will be performing live in support of his new DVD Michel Gondry 2: More Videos. The DVD includes nearly three hours of behind the scenes video and other content featuring the likes of Paul McCartney, Beck, Radiohead and others. The evening's events will also include an autograph session.
DRINK
Chateau Lamothe de Haux Bordeaux Blanc 2008, if you know what that is, you might be interested in what The Standard has in store for tonight. Head down to the hotel's lobby between 5 - 8 PM for their weekly wine tasting event. $20 will get you some snacks and three glasses of quality wine, including the previously mentioned. DJ Clay Vasquez of KCRW fame will provide the tunes to accompany the wine.
