Just in case you were wondering where your local bicycle patrol officer was... Some LAPD bicycle units were sent down to Mexico City to train local officers in bicycle crowd control and patrolling techniques, according to the Associated Press. It's part of a four-day course with the California Department of Justice. Let's hope they are leaving out this technique seen in the video below (scroll to 35 seconds):

This is from a war protest in Hollywood 2006. In the past, there was another video showing the bicycle officer coming up from behind and taking down the two with the video camera (but we currently can't find it). Here's a slow motion version of the above:

Did the police slap your vegan burrito out of your hand once? Why bring up "brutality" (you guys haven't since shit since most of you are fucking transplants and/or live in a well-off white community) when you are reporting that the LAPD is helping the Mexico City police?

This video is too much to take. We're very possibly exporting our brutality tactics to Mexico City. And @deepfry how is it not relevant to bring up policing tactics, which include a history of unprovoked brutality, when discussing training another country's police in bike policing?

Perhaps since there are so many bike police down in mexico city doing trainings, there may be fewer officers riding around skid row on their scheduled bike runs and intimidating peaceful homeless people. For now.
