Andrew Adelman, Manager of the Department of Building and Safety for Los Angeles, is currently under investigation for an alleged rape back in July. The LAPD is mum, but Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa reportedly sent a stern message placing him on administrative leaving.

The LAPD confirms that an investigation does involve a city employee but does not name anyone. "Because of the serious nature of the allegation and for reasons of confidentiality, no names will be released," a police statement read. "The Department will not be making any statements regarding this investigation. At the conclusion of the investigation the case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office for filing consideration."

A message from reportedly from Villaraigosa was straight to the point: "It has recently come to my attention that you are the subject of an ongoing investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department," the mayor wrote. "You are being placed on administrative leave effective immediately. Please be reminded that your employment is at will and may be terminated at any time."

The story was broke by KFI 640 AM yesterday afternoon, detailing what allegedly happened. Adelman and friends were out drinking on July 10 at an outdoor concert downtown. A female in the group blacked out and awoke being sexually assaulted in Adelman's condo. The incident lasted several hours before he drove her back to her car.

Adelman leads a large department of over 1,000 employees. It has been under fire recently regarding the billboard controversy.
