The MTA has "revamped its policy" and now the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department will assume responsibility for "supervising transit security guards," according to abc7.com.
The changes to the transit system's supervisory structure most likely stems from the recent revelation that there have been 11 investigations launched in the past two years by the L.A. County's Sheriff's Department into allegations of abuse of patrons by the MTA security staff, including one incident that took place in August 2008 where a man sleeping inside Downtown's 7th/Metro Station was kicked in the head by the MTA guard, which was captured on the station's surveillance cameras.

Well yesterday a group of me and my friends were getting off the metro with our bicycles going back home around 11pm from vine n hollywood. We encountered some really stupid Sheriffs who started harrassing and making fun of us for riding..He said why Bikes? Why do you even ride them? (amongst other things he said)He was kinda chubby so we suggested he try riding sometime. He continued to speak with ignorance and then tried to compliment my friends bike. He was so annoying, we had to tone him out.
The only trouble I've ever had in a Metro station was when two Sheriff deputies told me I couldn't photograph there, and took my personal info after I challenged their assertion.
