Commemorate the 40th anniversary of the 1969 Tate-LaBianca murders with an in-store lecture and book signing at La Luz de Jesus by Adam Gorightly to celebrate the new, special edition publication of "The Shadow Over Santa Susana" from Creation Books. The event will also include a musical set by the band The Flying Sorcerers and a look-a-like contest (with prizes for the "best" Charles Manson, Squeaky Fromme, etc). Tonight, 6-9. Free.
Topanga Film Festival
It's the closing day of the 3-day annual film fest honoring the work of local filmmakers. There are three events today, and all are free: “Youth Salon” @ Yoga Desa (Noon) featuring the work of moviemakers under 17; Awards Ceremony @ Froggy’s Fishmarket (7 p.m.); Best of Topanga @ Froggy’s Fishmarket (8 p.m.) screening the best of the fest.
For The Love of Dogs (And Cats) Comedy Show Fundraiser
Tonight at 8 at The Comedy Store it's a benefit for Operation Blankets of Love, a one-of-a-kind organization providing blankets, towels and other comfort items to homeless dogs, cats, rabbits, potbellied pigs and farm animals in Southern California shelters, rescues, feral communities and emergency situations. The evening of laughs for a good cause includes comics from "The Tonight Show," "Late Night with Conan O'Brien," "Last Comic Standing" and Comedy Central: Bill Dwyer, Gene Pompa, Neil Edwards, Jerry Rocha, and Carol Ann Leif. Tickets are $20 (online or at the door).
Concert on the Square: SalSumba
This evening you can experience a one-of-a-kind free concert at Heritage Square Museum: "Orchestra SalSumba" is a group of multitalented musicians from all parts of the world who will bring you to your feet & on the dance floor with their Afro/Caribbean rhythms of Salsa, Rumba, & Latin Jazz. It's the last of the free concerts there, and, bonus: no need to drive, take the Gold Line! Doors open to the public at 5:00 PM. Arrive at the museum early to see the historic architecture up close. Visitors will have a chance to try local food and beverages, and shop in the museum store. Costumed docents will be on hand to enliven the evening.
