Sanitation 2.0

n113511663417_758.jpg For those living in apartments or condo buildings, much of the recycling is done by the city's Multifamily Residential Recycling Program from the the L.A. Bureau of Sanitation. The progressive department, who is also aggressively working on a zero waste plan with the public, has now entered the world of Web 2.0. They just set up Twitter and Facebook accounts so people can learn about materials accepted in blue bins, but also for residents to send suggestions and questions. Sounds like a good idea considering over 400,000 multifamily residential units take part in the program.

I wish my apartment building in Hollywood had it's very own blue bins. Until that happens, I'll just keep on driving over to the Burbank recycling center, which is awesome btw.

If you're apt building doesn't participate in the program, go to this website:

You can send them your property owner's contact information and they will try to get them onboard. It worked for my building!
