Coffee connoisseurs love searching for the most delicious way to get their caffeine fix. The Nespresso company has been known to make even the snootiest coffee snob happy with their high end espresso blends and machines. Nespresso's new CitiZ espresso machine debuted at Sur La Table this week. Adding to their existing line of products, this new smaller espresso machine features a sleek, architectural design that fits well on small countertops. To celebrate they are offering demos and free samples at a special pop-up tent cafe by the Santa Monica Sur La Table store.

Tonight several famous local chefs will gather for the CitiZ launch party to share coffee inspired recipes and raise money for the Partnering Foundation. Gail Simmons of Food & Wine and Bravo's Top Chef series will be there. Some of LA's most well known chefs will be cooking up some special Nespresso-coffee inspired recipes. Participating chefs include Jorge Chicas of The Bazaar by Jose Andres, Jon Shook and Vinny Dototo of Animal, Nancy Silverton and Dahlia Narvaez of Mozza, and David Myers of Sona, Comme Ca, and Pizzeria Ortica.

The weekend will continue with the Nespresso pop-up cafe tent being open to the public for demonstrations and free coffee. The pop-up tent will be next to the Santa Monica Sur La Table store from August 8-16 (Mon-Sat 10am-9pm, Sun 11am-7pm). There will also be demos and coffee at local Sur La Table stores: Farmer's Market, Glendale at Americana at Brand, Plaza El Segundo, and Pasadena. The new CitiZ machine is available exclusively at Sur La Table this month, then on the Nespresso website and other retail stores starting September 1.

Sur La Table in Santa Monica is located at 301 Wilshire Boulevard (at 3rd Street).

But... but... but...

Nespresso makes tepid espresso using pre-ground beans left aging for weeks after roasting in trucks and on store shelves. They actually consider "ristretto" to be a *flavor*, rather than a beverage preparation style.

Coffee connoisseurs know better than to look to the creators of "Taster's Choice" for good coffee... sorry.
