Not that I know yet. Usually not much comes out until it's over or it moves to somewhere else. They don't want to tip off the suspect to what they are doing just in case they are savvy enough to be reading/viewing the news.

Makes sense.

How did you find out about it?

I saw this on the Metro 333 bus. Second time riding it and the bus had to be diverted because the police we lined up behind their patrol cars with guns drawn.

As of 4:27 p.m., LAPD Media Relations had no new updates. Still ongoing, they said.

Down the street at Sunset/Western was a lot of police activity as well- I wonder if that was related- also- any other media outlets covering this??

The thing on Russell was an arson suspect they've been after for years, they saw him and tried to apprehend him, and he ran into his apartment building. He was saying he had his 90 year old mother in there with him, along with enough gasoline to blow up the whole building. Then his mother was interviewed by the news as a "bystander" and when they showed her the picture of the suspect she identified him as her son and passed out. They then, obviously, knew that his mother wasn't in there with him and teargassed the apartment. People who live on the block should be able to get back in in the next 45 minutes.

The incident down by Sunset, I heard, was a stabbing that is totally unrelated.

Finally they got him! The odd part was I asked a fireman who was standing in the street a few weeks ago responding to something totally unrelated and I asked "what happened to the carport firebug?" and he said "arson got him". Wonder if there was two of them?

This arsonist likes to make quiet sunday mornings into a mess.
