National Night Out: Free Movie, Hot Dogs, Popcorn!

As LAist noted earlier today, tonight is National Night Out, uh, night. If you live in Northridge, you can catch a free outdoor screening of Kung Fu Panda at Northridge Park this evening. As noted in the press release from the office of Councilman Greig Smith (Greig? Really?):

Free hot dogs, provided by CPAB and LAPD Community Supporters, as part of National Night Out, will be served starting at 6:30 pm. Movie starts at nightfall. There will also be free popcorn until 9:00 pm, free drawings for prizes, facepainting for kids, booths with public safety information, LAPD mounted police and underwater diving units, games, activities, and more.

This special movie night is in conjunction with National Night Out, a community-police partnership held the first Tuesday of every August. It aims to increase awareness about police programs in communities, such as drug prevention, town watch, and other anti-crime efforts by holding block parties and festivals that bring neighbors together.

One suggestion to Councilman Smith for future screenings...PIXAR!
