DVD Tuesday: Jemaine? Present. Bret? Present.

Season Two of Flight of the Conchords wasn't quite as inventive as the amazing Season One, but it was still excellent television. If you don't have HBO, do yourself a favor and pick up this DVD today. Not only are Jemaine and Bret hilarious, but Murray may be the funniest character on television not named Dwight Schrute. This is the Steven Soderbergh I want to see. Not Oceans Steven Soderbergh but dense, four-hour movie about Latin American revolutionary Steven Soderbergh (The Limey is still his best film, though). I had such high hopes for The Soloist, but it was far too maudlin to ever fully succeed. I had no hopes for the Witch Mountain re-boot so there was nothing to be dashed. America, what are we going to do about Dwayne Johnson? Want to see a great film that you almost certainly missed at the theater? Try Gomorrah; don't try Mysteries of Pittsburgh.

Flight of the Conchords: The Complete Second Season

It's no longer an underground show that "no one knows about but that you just have to see". Still, Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! will still make you laugh your ass off. Want to hear a small but great story about The Love Boat? Anyone over the age of 30 can probably remember the voice of the guy on ABC who announced the show on television (The LOVE Boat!). You know who that guy was? That was Paul Thomas Anderson's dad, Ernie. A few years ago, who would have thought that Lindsay Lohan would be doing made-for-TV movies that made the back page of a DVD column? Okay, many people would and Labor Pains is the proof. How long until the inevitable Playboy appearance? Or is Lindsay more of a Hustler girl? Machine Girl typifies everything that is wrong and everything that is right with Asian cinema. Does that make sense?

Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!: Season Three
You Must Remember This: The Warner Brothers Story
Brian Sewell's Grand Tour of Italy
The Love Boat: Seasons One & Two
50 Years Of The Cuban Revolution

the soloist was a bit too maudlin??? are you kidding? that movie does more than juno, 500 days of summer , flight of the conchords and any other stupid quirky, indie comedy could ever do. it sheds light on a real problem in los angeles, it brings to the attention of all these people in la that think they know whats up by using the word maudlin to describe a film, that there are important issues that must be addressed in this city. in my opinion, this is one all "angelinos" should be watching.
