Eat this Map: LA's Farmers Markets Mapping Project

You want to eat fresh seasonal produce that's grown by area farmers. You want to help your local economy and not line the coffers of corporate America. You appreciate that an Oxnard-grown strawberry--one that's softer, smaller, redder, riper, and sweeter--is about a thousand times tastier, better for you, better for the environment, and better for your fellow Californians than the one that's bigger, harder, paler, less flavorful and found in a big plastic box inside the store that feels like a big plastic box.

Bottom line: You want to shop at and eat from our local Farmers Markets. The LA Times has launched a mapping project to make this easier for you. Using the Google Map platform, their site has a searchable map that allows you to find your nearest market by zip code, neighborhood, or day of the week. We're just teasing you with the above screenshot; use the Times' site to get the full interactive experience--and help them improve if you've got the 411 on a market going on.
