Stand up is the biggest draw this week, but as always improv is making a strong stand out at Westside and of course at UCB and iO West. In fact, Sentimental Lady and Flap Jackson are going to be breaking out of the Harold and into some new forms on Sunday evening at UCB, so that's worth a look too. Either way, there's always plenty of comedy, and if you know of more, let a guy know.
MONDAY 7/27
Ultimate X-ecution, 8p iO West. The search for LA’s single best improviser winds down.
MPG / Bruce, 10p Westside Comedy. Two great long form teams with very different approaches try to get the improv crowds out to the Westside.
TUESDAY 7/28
NC17, 8p Comedy Central Stage. A sketch show about the on-camera and behind-the-scenes antics of a wacky cable news station.
Greg Proops Chat Show, 9p Largo. The monthly talk show is back, with guests Drew Carey and Colin Hay. Hopefully they’ve got some funny inside stories to share.
WEDNESDAY 7/29
Neal Brennan, 8p Irvine Improv. Neal co-created Chappelle’s Show, so if that’s not enough to get you out, consider he’s the director of upcoming everyone’s-in-it comedy The Goods.
Cagematch, 11p UCB. After a great run, Old Town is out and Benderdangle is in as the new Cagematch champs. Come see if they can hold their title against Three Kings.
THURSDAY 7/30
Sit N’ Spin, 8p Comedy Central Stage. You know this essay show, and you know it’s good. Go take a peek, for the low low low price of free.
The Matt Jonestown Massacre, 8p UCB. This great one-man show has been winning over audiences at UCB for a while now, so be sure to check it out for yourself, and then stick around for the wonderfully touching Fatparts starring Julie Brister.
FRIDAY 7/31
Tang, 8p iO West. This year’s sketch winners at the LA Improv Fest are absolutely stunning, both in looks and comedy. This show is not to be missed.
Completely Different Late Show, 10p Groundlings. Check back in with this LA comedy staple as they present a different feel and format each week.
SATURDAY 8/1
ACME Saturday Show, 8p ACME. A weekly sketch show that is beamed live over the internet, so if you’re interested in being part of a live audience for nerds and people who are bad at finding porn, this is the show for you.
Harland Williams, 10p Hollywood Improv. Man, Harland Williams is weird and funny and overall amazing. Check out the early show at 8p if you want to be laaaaame.
SUNDAY 8/2
Andy Dick, 7p Irvine Improv. Head to the OC if you can’t manage to make it out to one of the hundred shows Dick does at iO West.
Orny Adams, 7p Ice House. Orny is back in Pasadena and ready to make you laugh at this laid-back Sunday stand up show.

Why is the Calbi truck such a sad joke? Have you tried the food there? I think the bigger joke is standing in line for 45 minutes because of blog/internet hype if the truck across the street with no line is just as good/better.

I would say the 'joke' is not so much with the quality of ingredients or the overall taste of the product vs. The Truck That Shall Not Be Named (TTTSNBN), but rather with the dichotomy the picture itself shows. They're really trying to rip off TTTSNBN with their name, their colors, their font, and even their logo. Yet, hilariously, there is no one there. At least not in the picture.
Calbi is definitely the best of the Korean Taco trucks, closely followed by Bool, with Kogi coming in waaaaay last after every Mexican taco truck in the city.
don't buy the HYPE
As long as they have a smart enough PR person that doesn't use upper case L's.. then well, you sold me on trying them out.
HOW DARE McDonalds copy Bob's Big Boy's burger and make millions off it!
