West LA Credit Card Info Stealing Waitress Gets Probation

3027534098_f568868b9e.jpg A West LA waitress at a Hamburger Hamlet was found guilty of 34 felony counts of identity theft and credit card fraud was sentenced to 5 years probation and a $3,000 fine. "April DuBoise, 29, used a "wedge" -- a small skimming device that reads and stores data from a credit card for downloading to a computer -- over a 1 1/2-month period while working in early 2006 at the Hamburger Hamlet restaurant at 2927 Sepulveda Blvd. in West Los Angeles," explains the Daily News. Although it's said that DuBoise, who sold the information to another man, caused $28,000 in damages, prosecutors say that the number is "a gross underestimation." The publicity of the case caused a sharp drop in business forcing the closure of the restaurant.

34 FELONY counts and all she gets is probation and a fine?

Unf*ckingbelievable.

I certainly hope the victims can take her to civil court as it appears to be the only way for people to get any justice these days.

At first i was going to say, "well at least she'll have a tough time finding her next gig."

Then i remembered *gack*, this is L.A., she's likely flooded with offers from politicians, lobbyists and marketing firms.

Geeze TUA, I actually agree with you on something!

Yea tree, or a reality show on FOX.

Nooooooooo!

She'll probably be in some flagrant shoplifting and mud wrestling competition with ex-Miss California or something.

This is ridiculous. Who's responsible for this sentence? The article doesn't say.

From the South Bay Daily Breeze

"Although prosecutors had asked for "substantial" prison time for DeBoise, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Bob Bowers Jr. instead sentenced her to probation and various court and probation-related fines."

I went 7-10 years ago when i was younger multiple times and remember it being busy at nights...i drove by often and it always seems empty. not sure if that case itself was the demise of the business but who knows.

This has happened to me. I say: Hang the bitch!! I'm still bitter.......
