A Sneak Peak at Metro's Fare Gates

Although they won't be operational for some time now, the first of Metro's fare gates are being installed at the Purple Line's Wilshire/Normandie station. LAist Featured Photos contributor LA Wad shares a few shots. Expect to see these popping up at most train stations over the next few months and say goodbye to the honor system.

I'd like to see how much "ridership" goes up by once they're operational.

Yeah, because nobody in LA would ever jump the turnstiles.

So are these TAP only?
If so, how will that work for single riders or visitors/tourist?

and where's the turnstyle?

It seems they could have saved a lot of money by installing these initially rather than the current TAP readers.

There was info on the bus recently. It's all TAP based so initially paper tickets will just walk through. In the near future all passes will be distributed on TAP cards.

When you say all passes do you mean single one-way rides?
