Tuesday is not exactly a day that screams "go to the Farmer's Market!" Yet everyday of the week, there is one somewhere in the Los Angeles region and on Tuesdays, Woodman Avenue in Sherman Oaks becomes one of those places. The weekly event is not purely a farmer's market (and probably why it's called the Woodman Avenue Market)--there are plenty of vendors selling clothes, solar power and sunglasses. The real meat, no pun intended, are the quality fresh farm stands. Our favorite pick is easily the South Central Farmers who offer a box (or three bags worth) of vegetables for $15 (you will be stir frying all week long, no joke).
The market runs every Tuesday from 3 to 8 p.m. and includes a good number of prepared food vendors including those who sell cobblers, BBQ, empanadas, tamales, desserts (vegan ones by former Leda's Bakeshop chef Kim Garr, who now owns C'est La V), shaved ice and more.

There is also a small but quaint farmers market in Highland Park on Tuesday 3-8pm. It's a mix of some prepared food ventors and vintage-y ventors. It's right at the Highland Park Gold Line stop. There are also a ton of resturants in walking distance, like the Goodgirl, Antigua Bread, La Estrella,Follieros, Las Cazuelas etc.
Cool, thanks for the tip!
I'm headed over there now, actually!
Thanks Zach - I've missed Leda's! Good to see I can find some of their treats again.
kim garr's c'est la v desserts are some of THE BEST vegan baked goods i've ever had. i am nowhere near this farmers market, but they are worth making the drive for. thanks for posting this! i will head over next week. CUPCAKES.
My fave tuesday market is the Culver City edition.
Here's a pretty extensive list of LA Farmer's Markets.
This is the same guy who tied to do the Sat/Sun Farmer's Market in downtown L.A. at Olive and 8th. I still get e-mails from him about this one.
